Salix caprea – Goat Willow

Salix caprea, commonly known as Goat Willow or Pussy Willow, is a deciduous tree native to Europe and Western Asia. It typically grows to a height of 6 to 10 meters (20 to 33 feet), although it can occasionally reach up to 15 meters (49 feet) under optimal conditions. The tree is notable for its early flowering in spring, producing fluffy catkins that give it a distinctive appearance. Goat Willow prefers moist soils and is often found in woodlands, riverbanks, and wetlands across its native range.
