Acer campestre, commonly known as the field maple, is a deciduous tree native to much of Europe and southwest Asia. It is known for its bright yellow leaves, moderate size and adaptability, making it a popular choice for ornamental planting and hedgerows.
Appearance:
- Size: Typically grows to a height of 15-25 meters (50-80 feet) with a rounded to oval crown.
- Bark: The bark is light brown to gray, initially smooth, but becoming rough and fissured with age.
- Leaves: A beautiful yellow in Autumn, the leaves are opposite, simple, and have five lobes with a slightly serrated margin. They are 5-16 cm (2-6 inches) long and wide.
