Sorbus torminalis
Wild Service or Chequerberry Tree
£35.00
Sorbus torminalis, the Wild Service Tree, is one of our rarest native species. A deciduous tree, it bears green maple-like leaves which turn to rich coppery-reds before falling in the autumn. In spring, clusters of small, creamy white flowers appear followed by small green-brown fruits sometimes known as chequers. Historically these fruits were used to make alcohol.
