Rhus typhina ‘Tiger Eyes’ is a striking cultivar of the staghorn’s sumac, known for its unique foliage and vibrant colour. A dwarf variety, this cultivar is said to be less invasive than the species. Its deciduous deeply cut, fern-like leaves emerge golden yellow in spring and take on brilliant shades of orange, scarlet, and red in autumn. ‘Tiger Eyes’ usually grows to a height and spread of 2m x 3m and its small size makes it useful for growing in mixed borders or containers. Although prone to suckering, these can be mown off or dug up to produce new plants.
