Paulownia tomentosa – Foxglove Tree / Empress Tree

Paulownia tomentosa, the Foxglove or Empress tree, is a fast-growing deciduous tree native to central and western China. With a height and spread of up to 12 x 8 metres, this tree is known for its large, heart-shaped leaves and striking, fragrant violet-blue flowers that bloom in the spring. Paulownia tomentosa is often used in reforestation and landscaping due to its rapid growth and adaptability to various soil conditions.  It copes well with pollarding or coppicing, so its growth can be controlled on a smaller site.
