Liriodendron tulipifera – Tulip Tree

Liriodendron tulipifera, the Tulip tree, is a majestic, deciduous, fast growing tree native to North America. Renowned for its tall stature and striking tulip-shaped flowers, it can reach heights of more than 35 metres.  Its glossy green foliage turns striking shades of yellow in autumn, and semi-mature specimens will produce the unusual, tulip shaped flowers for which it is known.  Recent research has also shown that the Tulip tree is highly effective at carbon capture.
