Ilex x meserveae ‘Blue Angel’

Ilex x meserveae ‘Blue Angel’ is a hybrid cultivar developed in the US about 50 years ago.  Its slow growth to a height of 2.5 to 4 metres make it ideal for containers or topiary, and its attractive, glossy, blue-green foliage and purple-green stems are useful for Christmas wreaths or decorations.  Pollination by Ilex x meserveae ‘Blue Prince’ will ensure bright red berries appear for the winter, adding seasonal interest. It is well-suited for use in hedges, borders, and as a specimen plant in gardens, and thrives in well drained soil in any aspect making it a versatile choice for landscape design.
