Raised in Sussex by the Reverend Ellison in the early 1900s, ‘Ellison’s Orange’ is a mid-season dessert apple with the characteristics of a Cox-style apple but with aniseed flavour undertones. Although partially fertile, grown with crab apples such as ‘John Downie’ or ‘Wedding Bouquet’ or a ‘Braeburn’ or ‘Newton Wonder’ apple will ensure a better crop.
