Egremont Russet – Apple

A classic English russet apple from Victorian times, ‘Egremont Russet’ is probably one of the most well known of the russet apples.  Its rough golden skin surrounds moist, cream coloured flesh sometimes described as tasting nutty or pear-like.  This versatile, late season apple is great with cheese or sliced in salads and can even be used to produce a thick juice.  Partially self-fertile, grow ‘Egremont Russet’ with a ‘Red Sentinel’ crab apple or ‘Greensleeves’ apple for better crops.
