Catalpa bignoniodes

Catalpa bignonioides, the Indian Bean Tree, is a deciduous tree renowned for its striking foliage. It typically reaches a height of 8 to 12 metres (25 to 40 feet) at maturity. It bears large, pale green, heart-shaped leaves and in early summer produces clusters of trumpet-shaped white flowers with purple and yellow markings, followed by slender bean-like pods.  Catalpa bignonioides thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, making it a popular choice for landscaping and ornamental purposes.  It also responds well to coppicing, if needed for a smaller space.
