Cornus officinalis (Japanese Cornelian Cherry)

Cornus officinalis, the Japanese Cornelian Cherry, is a deciduous shrub native to East Asia with rough, flaking brown bark. It typically grows to a height and spread of  5 metres and is prized for its clusters of small yellow flowers borne on bare branches in early spring, followed by bright red fruit in late summer to early autumn.
